Things could’ve gotten messy for Eminem at the 2001 Source Awards if his security didn’t step in. Em’s former bodyguard made a shocking new revelation about how Suge Knight tried to have the rapper killed at the show, and the story is terrifying. Listen here.
Eminem, 43, almost died at the 2001 Source Awards, according to his former bodyguard, Big Naz, in a new interview. Naz detailed a scary encounter the rapper had with Suge Knight, 51, during which he feared for his client’s life 15 years ago.
“Em was going to his seat — the way they had the seating was all messed up. The bodyguards couldn’t sit with the artists and I think that was by design. They really wanted the artists to network with each other, but it also gave people who had beef with other artists to just get at it.” Naz explained on Murder Master Music Show. “So, I noticed Em is in the middle of the aisle, he’s speaking with all these guy in these red shirts. So I had to come back around and I noticed his face changes, he’s turning tomato red. There’s a sea of red guys around him and I had to run to the middle and snatch him up.”
The men were from Suge’s record label, Death Row, and told the bodyguard that “Suge Knight sent us to strong-arm and man, it’s going down.” Luckily, security was able to get Em backstage safely before anything super dramatic happened.
Another incident went down during a trip to Hawaii, as well, Naz claimed. “When the plane lands we are greeted by 20 Honolulu police officers and they told us that Death Row is here,” he explained. “Suge Knight had sent 50 guys to break up the show. When we got there, vacation mode was over, we were lockin’-n-loading, putting on bullet proof vests.”
Suge Knight is currently serving time in jail, facing felony charges for running over two men on the set of Straight Out Of Compton, and killing one. He has pled not guilty to all the charges stemming from the incident.
Do you believe the bodyguard’s claim that Suge tried to KILL Eminem?!
