Beyonce wasn’t Eminem’s first choice for Walk On Water – he wanted Adele

Some fans may be shocked to find out that Beyonce was not, in fact, Eminem’s first choice for Revival track, Walk On Water. When Eminem dropped Walk On Water ahead of today’s Revival release, we all thought the rapper was counting his lucky stars to have Beyonce guest star on the single – but it turns out he first had his eyes on Adele. The Detroit rapper’s long-time collaborator and producer Denaun Porter has revealed the behind the scenes truth for the single.

Speaking to ThisIs50, D12 member Porter – who also goes by the rap name Kon Artis – revealed that Adele was originally meant to be on the track Porter said that when he first heard the track, it was intended for Adele but ‘something happened with her and her voice so she couldn’t do it.’ He went on to explain that they eventually reached out to Beyoncé, adding: ‘There’s only a couple people that could pull that off.’

Eminem’s new album Revival is out today (15 December) – it’s ninth record and first since 2013’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2. But the reviews weren’t all too great. A day after Revival was leaked, Eminem finally released his long-awaited album but the leaked version drew in huge criticisms.

It’s the rapper’s comeback album after a four year break, and features collaborations with the likes of Beyonce, Alicia Keys, P!nk, Kehlani, and even Ed Sheeran – who credits the 45-year-old as his reason for becoming a songwriter. The album touches on several genres throughout its 19 tracks, with a bit of hip hop, gospel, pop, and of course there is a fair dose of political commentary following his Donald Trump take down.
