5 Things We Know About Eminem’s Daughter Hailie Scott

For many, the first introduction to Eminem’s daughter, Hailie Scott, came in the form of early Em album tracks “Hailie’s Song” (2002) and “Mockingbird” (2004). “Hailie’s Song” saw Eminem in pure bliss after gaining custody of his daughter, following a volatile relationship with his former wife and Hailie’s mother Kim Mathers.

Now, at 22 years old (feel old yet?), Hailie’s been introduced to a new generation through Instagram, especially when she returned to the app over the weekend to celebrate her 22nd birthday, and shared a striking, ab-baring photo with the caption, “happy early birthday to me.”

With the release of her father’s latest album Revival, Hailie became the subject of a new batch of her father’s cuts, including “Castle” where he expresses regret for making their private family troubles public. Hailie doesn’t exactly fit the mold of the typical celebrity offspring — flashy, forthcoming, etc.– and like her father, Hailie keeps much of her personal life private, despite racking in over 796,000 followers on Instagram. In honor of her return to social media — whether for good or just for now — here are 5 things to know about Hailie Jade Scott.

She has a Christmas birthday

Kim Scott and Marshall Mathers welcomed Hailie to the world on December 25, 1995. Hailie is the only biological child of Eminem and Kim, who were high school sweethearts and married in 1999. “My insecurities could eat me alive/ But then I see my baby/ Suddenly I’m not crazy/ It all makes sense when I look into her eyes,” Em raps on “Hailie’s Song,” about the positive influence her presence has on his life.

She graduated high school with honors

While most celebrity parents opt for homeschooling for their children, Em’s daughter attended Chippewa Valley High School in Michigan.  During her school years, Hailie was part of the National Honor Society, played volleyball and eventually graduated Summa Cum Laude.

She attends Michigan State University

Hailie didn’t stray too far from home for college and is currently attending Michigan State University, where she’s reportedly studying psychology or entrepreneurship.

She has a special someone

Nestled between her personal selfies and photos of her best friend are photos of Hailie and her boyfriend, whose name she hasn’t revealed for obvious reasons. Hailie shared a photo of her and her boyfriend from December 28, 2016, just a few days after her 21st birthday, with the caption, “Couldn’t have asked for a better 21st birthday celebration (or a better guy to have by my side).” The couple also spent St. Patrick’s Day together earlier this year, where Hailie shared a photo expressing how “lucky” she was to have her boyfriend.

She’s been name-dropped in a lot of Eminem songs

In an old interview with Rolling Stone, Eminem revealed that Hailie was the one who inspired the 2002 track “My Dad’s Gone Crazy,” after taking her to the studio session one day. “So me and Dre were working together, and Hailie was running around the studio and she was like [in Hailie’s high voice], “Somebody please help me! I think my dad’s gone crazy!” he told Rolling Stone. “Instantly that locked in with a beat we’d made the day before. I went to my house, and I had her go in the booth and say it. When she opens up, she’s just like her dad in a lot of aspects.”

Eminem also rapped about Hailie in a number of other notable songs of his including “97 Bonnie and Clyde,” “Cleaning Out My Closet,” and “Going Through Changes.”
